Vultures: Kings of the Dead | WILD NATURE
EATER OF THE DEAD The only land-based vertebrates that can thrive solely on scavenging, vultures are crucial to ecosystem balance. Because they can quickly devour large amounts of flesh and their stomach acids neutralise pathogens, vultures may help limit the spread of bacteria and diseases such as anthrax and rabies. But their numbers have been plummeting worldwide, with several populations at risk of collapse. #Birds

Cape Buffalo being born | Caught in the Act
If you ask a safari guide for his or her most special sightings, those that have been lucky enough to witness a birth will usually list that amongst the top moments of their career. While watching a herd of about 400 buffalo moving through the long summer grasses, Giles Kelmanson noticed a single cow who was in labour. An amazing sighting to watch from start to finish. The birth was only about 5 minutes and 16 minutes after the drop that the little calf was beginning to use its legs to catch up to the safety of the rest of the herd alongside its mother. It was an incredibly intimate thing to have witnessed, the beginning of a life. #CaughtintheAct #NatGeo #NatGeoWild

24 Hours at the Waterhole at Sunset
Visit an African Waterhole at Sunset | There is one place in Africa where, if you are quiet enough and patient enough, you will see most of Africa’s animals pass by. And not just pass by, but pause, drink and interact with each other.
As the sunset over the African bush the animals come down to the waterhole to drink, this is the most dangerous time because the predators like Lion, Leopard and Wild Dog could be waiting. After sunset, the night creatures begins to stir and the night air fills with the sound of nature.

Caracal : The Desert Lynx | AFRICA'S LITTLE 5
Caracal Top facts
The caracal is a fearsome predator with remarkable speed and agility, allowing it to tackle prey up to three times its size.
With its strong and lengthy hind legs, the caracal is able to leap up to three metres in the air to catch flying birds.
The caracal’s impressive leaping ability once led to the species being trained to hunt game birds for the Persian and Indian royalty.
Being the fastest cat of its size, the caracal is able to run down prey such as small antelopes and hares.

Tribute to ISILO last of the Great Tuskers
Biggest elephant in Southern Africa dies. “Isilo” is the Zulu word for king. Isilo was the king of the elephants and wildlife in the Tembe Transfrontier Park on the South Africa/Mozambique Border and was known as the biggest “tusker” in Southern Africa.
It is with deep sadness and regret that Tembe Elephant Park has announced the death of Isilo the elephant. Isilo died a natural death of old age in the south-west section of the park in an area known to be his home range.
He is thought to have died in January this year however dense foliage and few roads through this lesser-known game reserve resulted in his carcass only being discovered about two weeks ago. Unfortunately his magnificent tusks had already been stolen by suspected rhino poachers.
Inkosi(Chief) Mi Tembe is offering a reward of R100 000 for the return to the stolen of the ivory/tusks to the authorities at Tembe Elephant Park.
This is a very sad and tragic time. His presence will be deeply missed.
